Martell XO Cognac

Martell XO Cognac

Martell XO Cognac is a masterful blend of power and elegance—bold yet refined, rich yet balanced. With spiced fruit, deep oak nuances and a long, silken finish, it stands out as a premium sipping cognac built for contemplative moments and elevated occasions.

Origins & Craftsmanship

Built by Martell, one of the oldest cognac houses founded in 1715 in Cognac, France, this XO expression marries eaux-de-vie drawn predominantly from the esteemed Grande Champagne cru with the acclaimed Borderies cru—giving the blend both intensity and grace. Matured in fine French oak barrels, it brings together typically more than 150 different eaux-de-vie aged across a range of years (often 15 to 35+ years) to deliver depth, complexity and signature house character. Martell highlights the blend’s “power and finesse of Grande Champagne” balanced with the “elegance of Borderies.”

Tasting Profile

Nose: Offers fragrant spice—black pepper, pink pepper and coriander—balanced by rich aromas of fig chutney, red and black berries, walnut and sandalwood. There are further hints of beeswax, violets and subtle dark-amber wood.
Palate: Full-bodied but smooth, the flavour opens with creamy fig and walnut, layered with dark fruit compote (plum, black-cherry), cedar and cocoa-rich oak. A thread of warm spice—cinnamon, nutmeg—runs beneath.
Finish: Long and refined, the finish lingers with toasted almond, walnut shell, soft leather, dark chocolate and a gentle peppery note. The oak structure supports the fruit without dominating it, leaving a refined, polished afterglow.
