Fuji 50th Anniversary Single Malt Japanese Whisky – 52% ABV Cask Strength Limited Edition
Fuji’s 50th Anniversary Single Malt is a rare, multi-decade composition that delivers both depth and elegance at cask strength. It combines rich fruit, creamy texture, and refined oak in a way that feels distinctly Japanese—precise, layered, and harmonious. With a 94-point score from Whisky Advocate, this is a serious collector’s whisky that also overdelivers in the glass.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Crafted at the Fuji Gotemba Distillery at the base of Mount Fuji, this release celebrates 50 years of production (since 1973) by blending malt whiskies drawn from every decade of the distillery’s history.
The whisky includes components ranging from approximately 12 to 50 years old, including spirit from the inaugural distillation year, making it a true “timeline” expression of the distillery.
Maturation takes place across a diverse range of cask types—ex-bourbon, Oloroso sherry, French oak wine casks, and other specialty barrels—resulting in layered complexity and a broad flavor spectrum.
Bottled at cask strength (52% ABV) and non-chill filtered, it preserves full texture and intensity, reflecting the distillery’s refined, fruit-forward house style.
Production is extremely limited (roughly 3,000 bottles globally, ~400 to the U.S.), reinforcing its collectible status.
Critics Reviews
- Whisky Advocate – 94 Points: "History in a glass, composed of aged malt whiskies going back through the decades to 1973, this has a bountiful nose of fruit and flowers on a cream base: lychee, mango syrup, ground ginger, caramel, balsa wood, vanilla cream, dried flowers, and white pepper. A deliciously thick mouthfeel with ripe apricot, butterscotch, malt, white pepper, apple crumble, caramel, and a moreish, creamy finish of toffee apple." Reviewer: Jonny McCormick
